I always bring a lot of stuff when I travel and vacillate between being proud and embarrassed. I do have a fantasy of taking a trip sometime with nothing except a point-and-shoot camera and two changes of underwear, but this is not that trip. I usually fiddle with trying out new gadgets to travel with and this trip is no exception. Camping in the countryside for a week will be a big challenge this trip, so I am bringing a rechargeable battery pack to keep devices powered up - this accounts for almost three pounds. Also trying a new hand held Polaroid photo printer to leave behind snapshots of people that we meet. I realize that what I gain by having the lightest equipment available is lost by having so much of it - oh well.
I weighed all this at 17 lbs. but it doesn’t look so bad if you photograph it all packed up.

Oh no....not again! John, John, John.....pencil and a sketch book.
ReplyDeleteNo keyboard. Write by pencil and post later. One camera. Lots of pics! Those headphones are way too big. Enjoy the sounds of the night. Smaller flashlite. Enjoy the moonlight. Solar battery pack? If you take that thing, you better LEAVE it there for someone...John, John, John.....you are making me laugh my sides off!!!
I always love your before-trip equipment pics. What's 17 pounds when you have all those fun gadgets to play with?! Looking forward to further posts. I hope you were able to get business class accommodations on the plane this time. mmm
ReplyDeleteGreat idea about leaving snapshots for the locals!!
ReplyDeleteGo with a peaceful heart...the horses will like you better.
