GIRONA

I am pleasantly surprised by Girona. The plan was to spend one night here to be closer to our starting point for the walking tour, but there is so much to do and see here that one could wander for days and still not see all of the old part of the city. Just across the river from our hotel, the maze of streets and allies has been maintained and restored and now is home to smart shops and cafes without loosing the quirky nature of a medieval town. We wander aimlessly and I get wrapped up in photography of all the old details. One thing keeps catching my eye - door knockers. Both here and in Barcelona, they are everywhere. Ornate or simple. Big or small. I still find time to take photos of doors and manhole covers, but the door knockers are fun.
