Seventeen Pounds?

I always bring a lot of stuff when I travel and vacillate between being proud and embarrassed. I do have a fantasy of taking a trip sometime with nothing except a point-and-shoot camera and two changes of underwear, but this is not that trip. I usually fiddle with trying out new gadgets to travel with and this trip is no exception. Camping in the countryside for a week will be a big challenge this trip, so I am bringing a rechargeable battery pack to keep devices powered up - this accounts for almost three pounds. Also trying a new hand held Polaroid photo printer to leave behind snapshots of people that we meet. I realize that what I gain by having the lightest equipment available is lost by having so much of it - oh well.

I weighed all this at 17 lbs. but it doesn’t look so bad if you photograph it all packed up.

    Green Light

    I've got everything covered - I think.
Double checked flight status online and all seems well.  Remembered there was a flight schedule change a while back, so emailed the hotel in Beijing with schedule change info and they confirmed they will send a driver to get us. Called our guide in Beijing on his cellphone and he confirmed that he picked up our train tickets from the ticket agent where we booked online. Got an email from our Mongolia tour company with cell phone and email contact info for their guide who will meet us at the train station.

    What could possibly go wrong?
(my attempt at humor, but the response is unanimous that you do not tempt fate, even in jest)

    Everything is under control !
